Infrared Garage Heaters
Infrared heaters are an excellent option for heating large areas where heat loss is a frequent issue. Most heaters for garages, workshops and other similar environments work by attempting to heat the air, thereby warming people and animals within that space. Infrared doesn't warm the temperature of the air. It works in the same way the sun warms you on a spring day – the infrared light warms you – only it does not use harmful UV rays to do it. There are three types of infrared heaters, each using a different source of power: electric, natural gas and propane. Infrared light is invisible, so the levels of light needed to warm your body don't hurt your eyes and aren't harmful to the skin. It is also touted as a green alternative to other sources of heat because it does not emit harmful substances into the air or deplete oxygen. It also doesn't eliminate the humidity from the air, which is a common cause of dry, cracked skin in working environments during the winter.
These units have many of the same features as other types of garage heaters and space heaters, like timers, wheels, fans and thermostats. There is also a variety of colors and design styles to choose from. The most important consideration is the placement of the unit, because it requires a direct path to the people needing heat in order to work properly. For this reason, ceiling units are especially popular. Ceiling units can heat everyone in a given area, even if their work requires them standing behind a table or automobile to work. Units with wheels are often inexpensive and can easily be moved to any area where the heat is needed.
